Shelley remained quiet while he walked out to his Acura and got in. She twisted her lips at first and then smiled. Shelley grinned when he looked her way and blew a kiss after he cranked up his vehicle. She lingered and enjoyed the night air for a while after he had left.
At last, she went inside and closed the door. It was night time, but her near-tryst with Mr. Coffee had left her energized. Alone she sat on the sofa and pulled her feet up. Shelley curled up into a relaxed ball and thought.
"He was right here. You could have banged his brains out and you did not. All this bullshit about high moral standards is great in theory, but it does nothing for your needs. Sex is a basic physical need like air, food, shelter, water and so on. It is kind of silly to let your needs go unmet for no reason other than what it might look like to people that could care less if you ate, drank, or anything else. Okay, pat yourself on the back because you just made a sacrifice for team Shelley." She thought.
She unfolded her legs and stretched. It was late, but she wanted to bounce this episode off someone who had a different view. She picked her cell phone and perused through her contact list. One by one, she passed up associates that seemed rude, overly judgmental, or not the kind of friend that you could go there with, to her. She giggled when she came across Lydia's number.
Lydia was a co-worker that she talked to occasionally. She was smart, funny, down to earth, lovely, and in the process of rebuilding herself. Lydia had once been overweight but had worked hard to lose more than 100 pounds. Her new body came complete with a new attitude and a renewed interest in life to the fullest.
When they met, the two of them just clicked. Shelley pushed the button and put the phone to her ear. She heard Lydia answer on the second ring. The women had remained friends since.
"Hey Ms. Lady, what is it with you?" Lydia said.
"Hey now, not much just wanted to know if you had a minute. I need an outside opinion, and thought you might be able to help a sister out."
"Okay, what's the deal?"
Shelley began to tell Lydia about her encounter with Mr. Coffee. Lydia listed and only interrupted for a question here and there. In a few moments, Shelly had briefed Lydia. She held the phone and waited for Lydia to respond.
"So let me get this right, you wanted to do him, he made himself available, and you backed down because of you wanted it to be special huh?" Lydia inquired.
"Yeah, pretty much," Shelley said.
"That does not at all sound like you, at all."
"I know right."
"Did you, at least, see his package? Did he fumble as if it was it his first time? I don't get it."
"I don't either. Nope, I never saw it, but the package had potential. He was smooth, and I made most of the moves. He is a good kisser, fresh breath and all. I think he has an aggressive side in bed. You know the kind the type that appears to be all humble but behind closed doors, oh boy!"
"Oh yeah, girl, bad boy in a tie. Wait, and YOU didn't whip out the cuffs and work his ass over?"
"I'm kind of ashamed to call you a friend right now, Shelley. I don't understand why you just did not tame that and be done. He is either going to like you for you or not. I have never known you to pretend to be anything for anyone. Don't change up for a piece."
Shelley chewed the inside of her lip. Her shoulders dropped. She knew that Lydia was right. Shelley could be a good girl about things, but she was not the type of woman who sat around and hoped for the best all the time. Shelley believed in the pleasure of the mind, body, and spirit.
She opened her mouth and heard her other line beep for attention.
Shelley looked at her screen and saw it was Mr. Coffee.
"Hold on Lydia, and this is him." Shelley said.
"No, you can call me back later. I am about to get up on some of what you turned down. You need to talk to him and work that shit out. Speak to you soon love." Lydia said.
Lydia hung up abruptly. The click was soft; however, it caused her phone to ring loud, which startled her. Shelley pushed the accepted button and sighed. With Lydia off the line, her excuse delaying Mr. Coffee was gone.
"Hello," He said.
"Hey, did you make it in?" Shelley asked.
"No, actually I drove to the riverfront to think. Wish you were here with me so we could talk, at least, so I thought it might be okay to call you instead and at least tell you good night."
"How sweet, listen about earlier, I have, to be honest with you."
"Please, say whatever you feel. How else are we supposed to get to know each other?"
"Well, it is just that, I did not want to stop. I just thought it looked weird and slutty to go for it right off the bat. I enjoy being a tease but I have adult needs too."
"That's what you call that? A tease? Girl, you making me hard as concrete and then cool your jets. You are mischievous. It is a good thing I have some self-control about myself, for real. I had my big boy pants on, and I wasn't about to run like a bitch, hide, or disappoint you. It is whatever."
"Thank you, I think? So what do we do now?"
"You tell me."
"Flag on the play, you do not want me to tell you what to do."
"For all you know, I might like that sort of thing."
"Well, you see where I am."
"I am on my way, in that case. Oh wait, I still haven't eaten yet, did you?"
"No, but I'm sure that I can find something to whip up around here or maybe you can just have pie."
"I love cake too."
"Do you eat pie?"
"Oh hell yes, I love pie."
"Pie and coffee?"
"Yes madame, pie, and coffee please, that sounds excellent. I will be there in a few minutes."
